Verity 340B TPA alternatives

Aventi vs Verity Solutions: an independent alternative to Verity 340B

Verity Solutions, the company behind the V340B platform, has been owned by Express Scripts, a Cigna company, since 2019,[1][2] and says KLAS has ranked it #1 for 340B management systems eight times since 2018.[8] If you run your 340B program on Verity, or are weighing Verity against other TPAs, this page covers what matters for that specific decision: what PBM ownership means for you, what Verity actually offers, how each company is handling the 2027 340B rebate model, and what switching involves. If you would rather not switch at all, we also explain how to keep Verity and use Aventi for rebate claims.

Aventi Health is an independent, founder-owned 340B TPA serving 300 covered entities, 24 of them hospitals.

Ownership

What it means that Verity is owned by a PBM

Express Scripts acquired Verity Solutions in 2019. At the time, Verity said it would keep operating as a stand-alone company under the Express Scripts umbrella, that clients would continue under existing contracts, and that Express Scripts' covered entity clients could keep using the 340B administrator of their choice. The announcement also said Express Scripts would move toward centralized inventory management for its contract pharmacy relationships using Verity's VHUB platform.[1]

Today, Evernorth Health Services, whose businesses include Express Scripts pharmacy benefit services and Accredo specialty pharmacy, lists Verity's president, Melissa Steffan, as President of CarepathRx and Verity Solutions.[3]

Ownership alone does not make a TPA better or worse, and many covered entities are happy with Verity. But your TPA sees every eligible claim in your program, so it is reasonable to ask how a PBM-owned TPA keeps your interests separate from its parent's. These are the questions we would ask any TPA owned by a PBM, wholesaler or pharmacy chain:

  • Who can see our claims and program data inside the parent company, and for what purposes? Ask for the answer in the contract, not just in a sales call.
  • Where do our patients fill prescriptions? If pharmacies owned by the parent company are among our contract or specialty pharmacies, how are those relationships priced and managed?
  • If we leave, what data do we get back, in what format, and how fast?
  • Does the TPA's product roadmap answer to our needs or to the parent company's priorities?

Aventi has no outside owner. We are an independent, founder-owned 340B TPA, and the only people we answer to are our covered entity clients.

Verity's footprint

What Verity Solutions offers, in its own words

Verity is broader than a 340B TPA. Knowing which Verity products you use tells you what a switch would touch.

  • V340B for covered entities

Verity's platform for hospitals, community health centers and FQHCs covers contract pharmacy, specialty contract pharmacy, owned retail pharmacy, referral capture and alternative distribution. Verity says most programs are fully operational within 120 days of receiving accurate customer data.[4][5]

  • Split billing

Verity 340B Split Billing splits replenishment orders across 340B, GPO and WAC accounts, with features such as best price logic, package size recommendations and orphan drug management.[7]

  • VHUB for contract pharmacies

A gateway that lets contract pharmacies centralize replenishment, inventory and invoicing across all of their TPA and covered entity relationships.[6]

  • Pharmacy software beyond 340B

VERISAVE purchase optimization, FUSEBOX for infusion centers, DromosPTM patient therapy management for specialty pharmacies, Verity Care Card, UDS reporting and secure data exports.[4]

  • Recognition

Verity says it was named Best in KLAS for 340B Management Systems in 2026, the eighth time since 2018 it has been ranked #1 in that category. Verity was founded in 2015.[8]

  • Rebate model work

Verity says its rebate model pilot solutions are integrated in its core platform. For the earlier pilot, it described V340B flagging eligible claims by NDC, submitting them to Beacon within 45 days of dispense, and pulling rebate status back from Beacon.[9][10][11]

Why Aventi

Where Aventi is different from Verity

  • Independent ownership

No PBM, wholesaler or pharmacy chain behind us, so there is no parent company with its own pharmacy business in your program.

  • Contingency pricing, no true-ups

Aventi's contract pharmacy and split billing services are priced on contingency. Real-time claim capture and purchase splitting mean no end-of-month true-ups.

  • Rebates in the same system of record

Rebate claims are qualified, submitted to Beacon and reconciled in the same system that handles your eligibility, split billing and contract pharmacy claims. The rebate module is included for Aventi TPA clients.

  • Specialty pharmacy built in

Integrations and a gateway with BioPlus, Accredo, Optum and many other specialty pharmacies bring high-cost specialty claims into the same workflow.

No switch required

Keep Verity, use Aventi for 340B rebates

HRSA's 340B Rebate Model Pilot starts January 1, 2027. Ten manufacturers have approved plans covering 21 drugs, all of them using the Beacon platform, and covered entities must submit claims data within 45 calendar days of dispense to receive rebates.[12]

Verity says its rebate model solutions are integrated in its core platform, so many Verity clients will simply use them.[9][11] Some covered entities still want a separate designated third party for rebate claims while keeping Verity as their TPA, for example:

  • You use Verity at some sites and another TPA at others, and want one rebate submission and reconciliation flow.
  • You need in-house pharmacy medical claims submitted to Beacon, plus 340B ESP and Truzo claims data submissions, in one place.
  • You want to see how Aventi works on real rebate claims before deciding whether to switch TPAs.

You don't have to switch TPAs.

Aventi can be your designated third party for 2027 rebate claims while Verity stays your TPA. Contact us for pricing. If you later move your TPA services to Aventi, the rebate module is included for Aventi TPA clients.

Switching

Switching from Verity to Aventi: what to plan for

  1. Step 1: Time the cutover around rebates

The pilot starts January 1, 2027 and claims are due within 45 calendar days of dispense. Pick a transition date that does not leave rebate claims stranded between two systems.[12]

  2. Step 2: Update your Beacon designation

Verity's own guidance has customers designate Verity as their TPA on the Beacon platform, using a Verity access token, to turn on automated submission. When you switch, change that designation so claims are not missed or submitted twice.[10]

  3. Step 3: Get your data and accumulators

Request historical claims, eligibility and accumulator data. HRSA requires manufacturer plans to accommodate up to 2 unreplenished accumulated packages, with a 15-day grace period before the pilot starts, so check what is still open.[12]

  4. Step 4: Decide what stays with Verity

If you also use VERISAVE, FUSEBOX, Verity Care Card or other Verity products, decide which ones you keep. Switching your 340B TPA does not have to mean replacing everything at once.[4]

  5. Step 5: Tell your contract pharmacies

Contract pharmacies need the change date and the new replenishment and invoicing flow, including any that work with Verity through its VHUB gateway.[6]

Aventi runs onboarding with you and can submit rebate claims while you are still on Verity, so rebate claims keep flowing during the transition. See the demo to walk through it.

FAQ

Aventi vs Verity FAQ

Express Scripts, a Cigna company, acquired Verity Solutions in October 2019, and Verity said it would operate as a stand-alone company under the Express Scripts umbrella. Today Evernorth Health Services lists Verity's president, Melissa Steffan, as President of CarepathRx and Verity Solutions. Aventi Health is independent and founder-owned.

Yes. Verity Solutions (often searched as Verity 340B or V340B, the name of its platform) offers 340B administration for hospitals, health centers and FQHCs, including contract pharmacy, specialty contract pharmacy, split billing and owned retail pharmacy, plus VHUB, a gateway for contract pharmacies that work with multiple TPAs. It also sells pharmacy purchasing, infusion and specialty pharmacy software beyond 340B.

Other 340B TPAs that covered entities commonly compare with Verity include Aventi Health, PharmaForce, Macro Helix, Wellpartner, SunRx, NuvemRx, Sentry Data Systems (Craneware) and Pillr Health. Aventi is the independent, founder-owned option, serving 300 covered entities, 24 of them hospitals. See aventihealth.com/340b-tpa-comparison for a sourced side-by-side.

Verity says it offers end-to-end solutions for the 340B Rebate Model Pilot and Medicare MFP requirements, integrated in its core platform. For the earlier pilot that was enjoined in December 2025, Verity described automated Beacon submission of pharmacy and medical rebate claims, plus a Beacon export for manual submission. Ask Verity how those workflows apply to the 2027 pilot, which uses Beacon for all ten approved manufacturers.

Yes. You do not have to switch TPAs to use Aventi for 2027 rebate claim submission. Aventi can act as your designated third party for rebate claims, in-house pharmacy medical claims submissions to Beacon, and 340B ESP and Truzo claims data submissions. Contact us for pricing.

Aventi's TPA services for contract pharmacy and split billing are contingency-based, with no true-ups, and the rebate module is included for Aventi TPA clients. Verity does not publish TPA pricing on its website, so ask each TPA for a written proposal based on your own contract pharmacy and split billing volume.

Plan the cutover around the January 1, 2027 rebate pilot start and its 45-day claims submission window, update your third-party designation in Beacon so rebate claims are neither missed nor submitted twice, request historical claims, eligibility and accumulator data, and tell your contract pharmacies about the change. Aventi handles onboarding and can submit rebate claims while you are still on Verity.
